Chapter 15: About Gorimacho, or The Hakase’s Scheme
In a certain part of the city, people on the streets were in an uproar due to the attack by the demon spirit organization Delnkeim.
Facing them were the Lost Fairies. The fairy princess, the pure flame Eres, rushed forward at once.
This time it wasn’t just evil soldiers and monsters. Halvied Calm Sein, the acting head executive of Delnkeim, was also present.
For some reason, he wasn’t wearing his previous researcher-style outfit, but instead a black cloak and a mask covering half his face. His change in appearance was somewhat startling, but there was no time to dwell on it now. Eres intended to defeat the executive here, leaving the other two to stall the rest.
“executive Head Halvied! Prepare yourself!”
“I’m just the acting executive, Eres-chan. Don’t forget that, please.”
“Ugh, don’t call me chan and mock me!”
“I didn’t mean to, my apologies. (Dammit, an old habit slipped out.)”
“Geez, this guy is so aggravating!”
Despite being an enemy, Halvied had an oddly familiar demeanor. And he apologized so readily that Eres didn’t know how to respond.
The pure flame Eres boldly attacked with her flame-wreathed fists, but he easily deflected her strikes. Even in the midst of high-speed close combat, Halvied remained composed and even counterattacked with a kick.
Halvied’s blow struck Eres right over her guard.
He had deliberately aimed there, not merely parrying her attack. Was he holding back or underestimating her? None of Halvied’s attacks seemed intended to seriously damage her.
“Kuh, he’s strong!”
“Fufufu. I’m flattered by your praise, but unfortunately I’m the weakest of the deputies.”
He was at least her equal, if not superior, even in her specialty of hand-to-hand combat. And Halvied had previously claimed to be just a researcher. In other words, even those not professionally trained as fighters in Delnkeim’s leadership had this level of ability.
“Eres, fall back!”
“Fiona-chan!”
As Eres retreated, Fiona of the pure stream unleashed her magic power in a rush.
A high-pressure water flow assailed Halvied, but he easily nullified it.
“A barrier…!?”
“Magic jamming, sort of speak. That kind of trick is more my forte, you see.”
“Kuh, so this is a executive’s true power…!”
“Fufu…” (Though honestly, anyone could do the same with my special magic item, but that’s a secret.)
Even their combined efforts couldn’t land so much as a scratch on Halvied.
They had become overconfident from defeating evil soldiers and monsters. There was still such a vast gap between them and the leadership class.
Eres steadied her breathing. If she couldn’t reach him now… then she would bet everything on her holy spirit armament.
“Kyaaaaah!?”
But her concentration was broken. Lurun of the burgeoning flowers, who had been assigned stopping the Evil Spirit Soldiers and monsters, was attacked.
“W-Wait, please!?”
The damage seemed minor, but her already thin fairy garment was torn, exposing her skin. She was still just a middle school girl, too embarrassed to move.
“Oh dear, this won’t do.”
Upon seeing this, Halvied immediately broke off from fighting Eres and went over to Lurun.
To everyone’s surprise, he took off his strangely stiff, stern black cloak and draped it completely over Lurun.
“Huh? Umm…”
“Well, I’ve accomplished my objective this time. I’ll withdraw for now.”
After concealing Lurun’s exposed skin, Halvied seemed to decide it was time to retreat, opening a spatial gate.
“Wait! Hold on!”
“My apologies, young ladies. I look forward to our next meeting.” (Seriously)
Ignoring Eres’ protest, he made his escape through the gate.
The evil soldiers and monsters had also vanished, leaving only the Lost Fairies amidst the wreckage of the battle.
“Geez, what’s with that guy!?”
Eres’ face was completely red. It wasn’t just that she had lost – the enemy hadn’t even taken her seriously. The feeling in her heart was less anger than vexation.
“He said he accomplished his objective, but all that happened was some random destruction of buildings and roads. I wonder what he really wanted…”
Fiona was also perplexed.
The only one seeming calm, albeit flustered, was Lurun.
“W-Well, I did get helped out of that, ehehe…”
She awkwardly laughed while using the high-collared cloak to cover herself. Halvied was an odd person, but at least a gentleman.
In the end, the true purpose behind this attack remained unclear, but one thing was certain:
“At least, I couldn’t match a executive in just my regular fairy garb…”
Tasting an indescribable sense of defeat, Eres groaned.

784: Hakase
Fufufu, I bet Fiona and the others never imagined the “purpose of deploying in a robot anime protagonist-style cloak to appease the leader’s whims” was the actual objective itself…
And losing that cloak after using it to conceal Lurun-chan’s exposed skin – perfect, I can’t wear it again now. I’m so capable.
785: Nameless Combatant
I’ve never heard of a executive being deployed for such a dumb reason before lmao
786: Nameless Combatant
But the Hakase is getting totally roasted on social media though.
Stuff like “How dare the evil organization’s executive interfere!” and “I missed seeing Lurun-chan’s pink!”
787: Nameless Combatant
Welcome back Hakase. Posting about your deployment day too, as much of a NyanJ forumer as ever I see.
788: Hakase
»786 I’m not accepting those kind of complaints, you can smash your pinky toe with a hammer at full force if you want.
I’m back. Though I’m heading out again soon.
789: Nameless Combatant
More work?
790: Nameless Combatant
The Hakase is surprisingly strong too, I’m shocked.
If he’s the weakest executive, the boss must be crazy powerful for the Lost Fairies to handle.
791: Hakase
That’s because I turned down their invitation last time.
Tonight I’ve got plans for conveyor belt sushi with Gorimacho, I even got a extra side income.
792: Nameless Combatant
So Gorimacho is blending into Japan too…
793: Nameless Combatant
At this rate, before we know it our neighbor could be a former Delnkeim member.
794: Nameless Combatant
Temporary side income?
795: Hakase
I’ve got some ties to a construction company, you see.
We wreck stuff -> more work for them! It’s a lucrative cycle apparently.
I’ve been providing them advance intel on our planned attacks, and the executives compensate me for it.
Combined with some other schemes, I can at least break even now despite the heroes defeating our monsters.
796: Nameless Combatant
That’s an insidious way to invade…
797: Nameless Combatant
Definitely not something the Lost Fairies could ever stop.
And not like we could do anything about it even if we knew.
798: Nameless Combatant
The Hakase really is an evil scientist…
799: Hakase
Evil is right, I’m the real deal. After the sushi, Gorimacho and I are going to watch videos of “Intense 10 Fall Deathmatches” between famous pro wrestlers.
Fufufu, tonight I might even relax my three beer limit.
800: Nameless Combatant
Don’t do it, you’ll seriously regret that later.
801: Nameless Combatant
The Hakase and Gorimacho seem pretty close, like at that drinking party before.
802: Nameless Combatant
You’d think a power-type fighter and a researcher would have a bad dynamic.
803: Hakase
We did butt heads a lot when I first joined the organization, actually.
I mentioned before how I got scouted to try and find a cure for the current leader’s illness, right?
Though it wasn’t really an illness per se for the leader, more like an innate condition. There was no cure.
We had to rely on creating a limited alternate dimension tailored with properly balanced environment to build our base in.
It took about two years of construction, but thanks to that the leader can at least move around freely within the base’s confines without issue.
Little Leader: “Thank you, Hakase!”
That adorably cute little leader’s smile just has such destructive power, I swear.
The organization blew through massive funds for it, but the previous leader didn’t blame me at all, just said “Well done!”
That’s when I thought, “Alright, I can stick around here a while longer.”
804: Nameless Combatant
Even if for a child’s sake, the previous leader had a pretty big heart.
805: Nameless Combatant
You’re glossing over the insane feat of creating an entire alternate dimension though, Hakase.
806: Hakase
Well, things went downhill after that due to the previous leader’s poor management ability.
Our operating funds were dwindling but she just said “We’ll make more money, no problem” overly optimistically.
Ah geez, this previous leader has zero financial sense.
I was exasperated but he was still an understanding boss, so I stepped up to assist Big Bro in keeping operations running smoothly behind the scenes.
Big Bro was pleased my help made his job easier. Then the previous leader personally summoned me.
Previous Leader: “Rejoice Hakase, I’m appointing you as a executive! You’ll have more authority now to act more freely!”
He say “freedom,” but it basically means leaving troublesome matters up to my discretion.
In the end, my promotion to the executive ranks was less about recognizing my accomplishments and more about expanding the range of tasks I could be assigned.
Naturally, my workload visibly increased. What? You messing with me?
