After My Sister Enrolling Volume 2 Chapter 4 part 2

“Even considering the matter of the mithril mines, rebelling to the point of taking up arms is too much of a stretch. We should probably assume that the Callandor territory has been illegally siphoning and profiting from mithril for many years.”

“Yeah, I’d say so.”

Everyone is just casually carrying on the conversation,

but there’s one thing really concerning me.

“Um…our territory doesn’t have any military forces, you know?”

I thought I was making a very reasonable point, but…

“What are you saying? Even if a million enemy soldiers gathered, it would be far easier than the Ogre’s Great Forest.”

“It’s clearly not a match for Brother. Of course, I’ll accompany him too.”

“No, it might be better to just have Brother exterminate these fool himself, so an idiot like this never appears again.”

“Yes…we should let the whole continent clearly understand what happens when someone raises a hand against Brother.”

And so, after Suzuha and Yuzuriha discussed it,

I ended up being the only one to fight the entire Callandor forces.

The night we received Callandor’s declaration of war, the first strategy meeting was held in the great hall.

“Well then, Kanade, the situation?”

“Leave it to me.”

The maid Kanade unrolled a map about the size of a rug on the table.

Leaning over, her overly ample breasts deforming, Kanade pointed to a spot on the map.

“According to my maid intel, one million soldiers are amassing on this plain.”

“One million…!?”

“They really did gather that many. Well, at least they have some understanding of how fearsome my brother has become after turning against him, I suppose?”

“However, no matter how many regular soldiers gather, it would be absolutely impossible for them to stand against Suzuha’s older brother. If it was say, a million Amazonians, perhaps they’d have a slight chance of winning…no, still impossible.”

“What, no way I could win even then!”

“Well, nevermind that.”

My obvious interjection was elegantly ignored. How sad.

“So in other words, after amassing soldiers on the plain, they plan to march in a line along the mountain road, right Suzuha?”

“Yes. But we can’t just sit around waiting for that.”

“So our best move is to strike the million soldiers on the plain once they’ve assembled. Kanade, that thing.”

“Got it.”

The maid Kanade stepped out briefly, returning with an absolutely massive sword.

I don’t know what this is.

But this sword, or whatever it is…the blade is over twenty meters long?

“You’ll take this and swing it around in the enemy ranks. That way, even an idiot will understand the folly of opposing you. What do you think Suzuha, sounds good?”

“For Brother, swinging a 200-meter sword would probably be just as easy…”

“I considered that, but the mobility would be too poor.”

“I see. That makes sense then.”

Suzuha seems convinced for some reason, but more importantly, when did we even make this thing?

“Ah, this sword? I had it made in secret because I thought Suzuha Brother swinging such a massive blade would look so cool. Consider it a celebration gift from me for your investiture.”

“…Thank you…”

I thanked her somewhat hesitantly.

For this war at least, but the sword is definitely getting locked up in storage afterwards.

It would have been much more welcome if she just gave me sushi instead, but I think I hid that honest feeling well.

…Though the craftsmanship of the sword itself is pretty amazing.

When I gave the sword a little experimental swing in the unnecessarily large meeting room to avoid hitting the walls, Yuzuriha for some reason looked extremely satisfied, crossing her arms and nodding repeatedly.

“Indeed…! Seeing you happily testing out the great sword I gifted, so wonderful…!”

“…Yes, it is…”

I just nodded along, as I felt she’d be terribly saddened if I denied it.

In the end, the strategy meeting unanimously decided on the extremely simple plan of “I beat up the million soldiers on the plain.” Is that really okay?

Afterwards, while I went to the castle courtyard to practice swinging the great sword, Suzuha, Yuzuriha, and the others seemed to be ironing out more specific tactical details in a corner of the garden.

The wind carried snatches of their conversation to my ears as I checked out the sword.

“–Wait a minute! Why can’t I, the one who has been his sole companion until now, guard his back?!”

“Obviously, if a famous person like Yuzuriha was by Brother’s side, no matter what happened it would become Yuzuriha’s accomplishment and ruin our plan to promote Brother himself. Not to mention it’s questionable for you to call yourself his companion so brazenly.”

“Well then, what if I conceal my face like at a masquerade ball!?”

“Absolutely not. What if a rumor spreads that Brother is possessed by some mysterious demon? How will you take responsibility then?”

“If it’s responsibility, I’m ready to take it anytime! ’”

“No, that won’t do . You have an evil aura about you.”

“Ugh…I cannot refute that…!”

“So in other words, I, Brother’s unknown little sister, will properly guard him. Yuzuriha, you can just housesit here.”

“That’s too cruel!”

I don’t know the details, but it’s nice to see Suzuha getting along so well with Yuzuriha as siblings.

We received an official communique from the Uentas Principality.

As expected, or rather, the Uentas Principality claims to have no involvement whatsoever in Lord Callandor’s declaration of war, and has no intention of violating the ceasefire accord.

They even courteously stated that they would disassociate completely from Callandor if I, Marquis Lohengrin, were to occupy and take control of Lord Callandor’s territory, without any objection.

Furthermore, they wrote that they stand ready to immediately send reinforcements upon request.

“It almost seems like they’ve written ‘you don’t need to go that far’ here…”

As Ayano handed me the official document in the office and glanced over the contents, she said:

“They really want to insist that they have absolutely no relation to the fool who broke the ceasefire accord, that’s all.”

“I see, I suppose so?”

“If I were the Grand Duchess, I would absolutely emphasize this point as well. And I would prioritize sending the exact same message to Queen Toko and the Amazonian Supreme Commander, scattering it to all other nations too. Even going that far, the odds that the enraged Amazoness wouldn’t launch a retaliatory strike on the Uentas Principality are still about 50-50.”

“Haha, you don’t say.”

“So in that regard, I humbly request that you write a personal letter to the Amazoness from yourself as the lord! No really, please do!”

For some reason, Ayano prostrated herself before me, and so I ended up having to write a letter to the Amazoness.

Well, I don’t mind writing them a letter to ensure they don’t worry unnecessarily over this incident.

I wrote that they need not be concerned, that I hoped to visit the Amazon village for a casual visit once things settled down, that the peaceful Amazoness who avoid war are wonderful, and also that they should warmly watch over the troubled Uentas Principality – all under Ayano’s thorough guidance.

According to Ayano, this letter is diplomatically appropriate while still conveying my sincere feelings towards the Amazoness, making it excellent.

Ayano is truly amazing, well-versed not just in regular documentation but also diplomatic correspondence.

And

upon reviewing the completed letter, Ayano was positively overjoyed to the point of tears.

“I’m so glad, truly so glad…! I’m so glad I took this job!”

“I see…that’s good then…?”

I didn’t really understand why Ayano was so deeply moved, but oh well.

Right before my departure, an issue arose –

there was no one to housesit.

I tried pleading with Ayano, but she said:

“I don’t mind staying behind myself, but it’s unacceptable to have no commanding officer overseeing things.”

“Ah, I suppose you’re right.”

“Of course. The last time was just a mining business trip, so it was permissible. But for you, my lord, to march off to war with only a foreign civil servant of Uentas as the operational commander behind? That wouldn’t look proper at all.”

As Ayano presented an ironclad rationale, the maid Kanade puffed out her chest confidently.

“I can be quite useful on the battlefield too, you know.”

“Kanade has indeed demonstrated the ability to obtain any and all ceiling intelligence…”

“Just leave intel, cooking, cleaning, anything to me.”

In any case, having a maid as the commanding officer was out of the question.

As for Suzuha and Yuzuriha:

“It’s unthinkable for me to remain behind while Brother marches off to war. I’d sooner become a suicide knight than have it thought I aimed to usurp Brother’s position while he was sent to the battlefield.”

“And I would sooner be dead than abandon my companion to go to war alone. As someone who has always fought on the vanguard of war, taking the rear here would open me to vile rumors.”

“…I see, I suppose you’re right…”

Like that, everyone adamantly insisted on accompanying me for very understandable reasons.

I almost considered asking some local town officials, but that was swiftly rejected as well.

It was explained that while a common citizen might be acceptable for an impoverished territory, having a civilian in charge was out of the question for the margraviate that controls both the mithril mines and possession of orichalcum. Fair enough.
